It's not everyday you learn a life-saving maneuver from a famous children's television show. For seventh grader Brandon Williams, that's exactly where he learned the Heimlich maneuver. At Barnes Intermediate School, Brandon saved a classmate's life by learning the Heimlich from Spongebob Squarepants.

After seeing his classmate Jessica choking on an apple during school, Brandon took the initiative to help her out by performing the Heimlich after seeing it on an episode of Spongebob Squarepants. In an interview with his proud parents, they say that things just file in his head naturally, and in the most timely of circumstances some of the things he's learned have paid off. Especially when it comes to saving his friends' life. According to his father, “kids with autism can do whatever they want to do in life, you just got to give them a chance.”
